The Dreamery to open on Public Square
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Business owners and food enthusiasts Serena Erizer and Lori Smith are expanding their offerings in downtown Elizabethtown and will open The Dreamery, a small batch craft ice cream shop. The business partners have signed a letter of intent to lease space at 56 Public Square.
Erizer and Smith, owners of Vibe Coffee and Herb and Olive Market, also located on Public Square, said The Dreamery will serve ice cream made from scratch with high-quality, organic ingredients sourced from Kentucky farms.
“I have always had a passion for food, and owning a business has only deepened that passion,” said Smith. “To expand upon that with ice cream, an all-time favorite for me and my family, is like stepping into a dream.”
Erizer added that The Dreamery is a step forward in overall downtown revitalization as well.
“We see a need for this offering, and we are excited to fill that need in our community,” she said.
The building, owned by local property developer Twin Maples, LLC, is located on the northwest corner of Public Square and is the former home of St. Timothy’s Anglican Church. Twin Maples, LLC members purchased the building because they wanted to help support a business that would draw families to downtown Elizabethtown and add to the vitality of the area.
“We couldn’t be happier to move forward with a tenant who not only is opening a business people are going to be excited about, but also has an established, successful downtown presence,” said Twin Maples, LLC member Kenny Rambo.
Owners will share their timeline for opening once the design and construction phase is underway. Meanwhile, those with an appetite for ice cream can try a variety of ice cream sandwiches, including gluten-free and vegan options, at Herb and Olive Market, Smith said. Vanilla bean, Dutch chocolate and a third seasonal flavor are available now, she said.
